Aviation Telecommunications Maintenance Services

AVCOM Wireless has been for over 30 years providing aeronautical telecommunication maintenance services to Cayman Islands Airport Authority’s two airports, Owen Roberts International in Grand Cayman and Charles Kirkconnell International Airport, Cayman Brac.  All equipment used by the Air traffic controllers to communicate with aircrafts  providing their safe and efficient passage in, out, and through the Cayman Islands air space, are maintained by AVCOM Wireless.
Services include Navigational Aids, NDB, DVOR, DME, and most importantly, the air-to-ground radios used to communicate with airborne aircrafts and ground crew. Others include equipment such as the Voice switch, and Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN).
These equipment and other peripheral devices such as recorders and billing systems, which all form part of the essential services to the ATC, are serviced by AVCOM Wireless. AVCOM Wireless also provides services to the National Weather Service of the Cayman Islands, whose service also plays a critical role to Air traffic Services. Some of their equipment includes the Automatic Weather Observation System (AWOS) and the Hydrogen Generator used to provide hydrogen for the weather upper air systems.
“Chances are We Can Handle Your Communication Needs”

In addition to the above, Avcom Wireless also provided the Security CCTV solutions for the entire Airport in Grand Cayman.

As of June 1st, 2014, CUC entire radio operating staff was fully equipped with the latest commercial digital Two-Way Radio technology from Motorola. Avcom, who is continuing to ride on the wave of technology, has since the beginning of last year, prepared and launched its Mototrbo Capacity Plus digital trunking Two-Way Radio system.

The repeater systems, located in Newlands and George Town are built with one of Motorola's toughest, the MTR3000 repeater. The MTR3000, capable of operating in analogue and digital modes, is nicknamed "workhorse" because of it robustness, 100% duty cycle, and maintenance free reputation, inherited from its predecessor the MTR2000.

The prime site at Newlands' is comprised of 6 MTR3000 repeaters in Capacity Plus trunking topology (which translates to 12 digital repeaters) and is connected to a high-gain antenna system propagating from a height of 250 feet.

This new digital technology which is base on the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) platform, offers many benefits to both the customer and the service provider. Extended range with better signal to noise ratio, and the ability to disconnect a lost subscriber radio from the system are some of its many welcomed features. Other features such as GPS tracking, Text Messaging, and Job-Ticketing, are but few to mention.

Consolidated Water Co. Ltd. (the “Company”, or "CWCO") designs, builds, operates, and in some cases finances seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants and water distribution systems in several Caribbean countries, where the supply of drinking water is scarce and the use of SWRO is economically feasible.

The Company was established in 1973 as a private water utility in Grand Cayman, the largest island in the Cayman Islands group, and obtained its first public utility license in the Cayman Islands in 1979.

Avcom Wireless has been its sole radio communication provider for more that 15 years.

In 2009, Avcom Wireless deployed its first Mototrobo Digital Two-Way Radio Repeater system for Consolidated Water. This system is a conventional repeater which provides two Time Division Multiple Access repeater slots. One slot is used for voice and the other is used for GPS tracking or subscribers.

To complement this system, Avcom Wireless in partnership with Neocom Software also installed TRBOnet Voice and Data Dispatch.
